Ballot Box Battleground on Same-Sex MarriageNovember 2, 2009 NEW YORK, Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The Righteous Voter's Guide issued a rallying cry for religious voters, singling out New York City candidates who support "same-sex" marriage. The Guide calls out Mayor Michael Bloomberg and his challenger, Bill Thompson, as unrepentant cheerleaders for same-sex marriage. The Guide investigates the fall of Dede Scozzofava, in a Heavenly victory that sent a warning over the heads of Republican State Senators being wooed to same-sex marriage by Governor David Paterson at an upcoming special session. Ms. Scozzofava, an N.Y. Assemblywoman who betrayed her district's Republican values in voting for same-sex marriage, folded her campaign this weekend as her wide lead dwindled and fell behind her Democratic opponent and Conservative third-party challenger. The martyrdom of Miss California, Carrie Prejean, at the hands of vindictive same-sex marriage crusaders, is held up as an example of the bigotry and intolerance of same-sex marriage supporters. The Guide answers those who ask "What's the harm to traditional marriage of allowing same-sex couples to marry." Beyond concepts of logic and fairness, writes editor Dovid Z. Schwartz, "as a people, a country and a society, and as members of the human race, we have received a tradition recorded in the Five Books of Moses, in the seven laws given to Noah, that there are certain lines that cannot be crossed under any circumstances. All human beings are prohibited from murder, theft, and sexual immorality, just as they are prohibited from certain types of cruelty to animals, idol worship, and denial of Gd, and are required to set up a system of the rules of law and courts of justice." The matter of same-sex marriage goes beyond marriage. "This is about morality," the Guide states. "This is about the question of whether human beings have free will over their actions, or whether they are bound to act on all their passions like animals. Any candidate who supports [same-sex] marriage is saying that he doesn't care about morality ... Any support of [same-sex] marriage is a direct attack against the belief in a transcendent moral standard." This coming election day also tests whether New Jersey voters will re-elect same-sex marriage supporter Governor Jon Corzine, who runs with the hope that campaigning with President Barack Obama and declaring his goals for health care reform can save him from the wrath of public opinion. Voters in Maine will also step up in a referendum to reject a legislative enactment of same-sex marriage in their state. The Righteous Voter's Guide is a publication of Zeh, a journal of culture for people concerned with ethics, morality and religion. The Guide will be available for download at www.zehjournal.com.
