Obama: Please Don’t Bring More War To Uganda

As a Ugandan, I beg Obama to leave Acholiland alone so they can have peace. We would rather prefer that the Arab Spring sweep over Uganda and carry away with it the despot, Museveni, in its wake; rather than go chasing after wind in disguise, bringing more suffering to unhealed wounds in Acholiland.

[Open Letter To President Obama]

At the moment there is no war in the northern part of Uganda. People are beginning to go back to the villages. Slowly normality is returning to Acholiland.

For the past 20 years people in the northern part of Uganda were stuffed in camps where all sorts of abuse was meted against them from the hands of Yoweri Museveni’s government soldiers. However, they never saw any help coming from the West, the U.S., NATO, the United Nations and from anywhere else in the world. Is it only now that U.S. has suddenly woken up to the fact that there were rebels in the northern part of Uganda? No way; you can fool some people sometimes but you cannot fool all the people all the time.

This is just an excuse to get the American troops where the next action is; they secured the Kuwait, Iraq, South Sudan, and Libyan oil fields. They need to be positioned for the next Great Lakes oil action as well.

In short President Obama is surrounding the Great Lake oil fields with the American army so that they could get their hands on the kill since they were being sidelined. This could also be the reasons why details of bribes paid to Ugandan officials are now being sounded openly; somebody is not happy, especially those who missed out on the oil contracts.

People from Acholiland have suffered so much for the past 20 years.

President Obama also says the American troops will not “lead the fight.” What fight? There is no war going on in that area. That means there are no armies too in the region.  Now we wonder who is going to be behind this “war” then?
