Michelle shared a snap of beautiful flowers and a note from Barack on her birthday on Wednesday.

She thanked him, while captioning it 'You're my best friend, biggest fan, and getting notes and flowers from you will never get old.'

It seemed like the president had some competition from her adoring fans on her special day as she added a thank you 'to the many people from around the country who sent cards and posted on social media, you have no idea how much we love hearing from you.'

Michelle and Barack have been enjoying their time as private citizens, however we will see more of Barack in 2018 as we near the mid-term elections.

'He's keenly aware that injecting himself into day-to-day politics can make it more difficult for other Democratic voices to rise to prominence,' said Katie Hill, a spokeswoman for the former president to Politico

'You can expect him to continue weighing in strategically and staying above the fray while helping cultivate the next generation of Democratic leadership.'
