White House rebuffs Afghanistan decision criticism

October 24, 2009

The White House spoke out about Republican criticism that the president is not making a decision about the country fast enough.

Washington, D.C. (WiredPRNews.com) – The White House has spoken out about criticism from former Vice President Dick Cheney and others who say President Barack Obama is not making his decision about Afghanistan with enough haste. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Obama is currently weighing the decision of whether to allow a mass number of additional forces to be sent to the country per a military request.

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs is quoted by the AP as stating of Republican criticism on Thursday, “What Vice President Cheney calls dithering, President Obama calls his solemn responsibility to the men and women in uniform and to the American public… I think we’ve all seen what happens when somebody doesn’t take that responsibility seriously.”
